I know this probably doesn’t surprise you, but I love the internet. Not only does it entertain me and allow me to connect with others, but it allows me to learn and have access to more resources than I ever thought possible. I actually remember about 10 years ago sitting with a friend of mine and telling him that I wish I just had a wifi bubble that would follow me around everywhere I went. Now, with my phone always connected, I got my wish. Almost anywhere I am I can find information and connect with people all over the world
Over the next few weeks there are three, free events for educators that I want to highlight that I hope some of you will participate in.
K12 Online Conference – This is a completely free, online conference that spans a two week time period highlighting the work that educators around the world are doing with students. For the most part, it is made up of video presentations from educators who are willing to share projects and ideas. All videos can be downloaded or watched online and are archived all the way back the conference’s first year in 2006. There is much to learn and see in these presentations and I highly encourage you to check them out.
Google Education on Air - This is another complete free and virtual conference that will be going on at various times all the way through December. All of the presentations are done through Google Hangouts and are categorized on the Hangout Schedule. Many, but not all, of these presentations are related to Google tools but you don’t have he be a techy to learn from them. These are innovative educators who have lots of ideas and are trying new things. It’s well worth your time to take a look and see if anything appeals to you.
Global Education Conference – The Global Education conference is a collaborative, world-wide initiative involving educators, students and organizations from around the globe to increase educational connections and supporting cultural awareness and diversity. This conference was started in 2007 and has connected educators interested in Global collaboration. The conference itself doesn’t start until November 12 but there is much to learn already on their site. Take a look at the accepted sessions or the conference schedule and see if there’s anything your interested in.
